Q: When should I install my eSIM?

We recommend installing it the day before you travel while you have stable home Wi-Fi. You can keep the line “Off” until you land at your destination. Currently valid for 179 days prior to activation. After activation, the plan is valid for the length of the plan.

Q: Can I use my WhatsApp/iMessage?

Yes! Your WhatsApp will keep your original home number. The eSIM only provides data, so your apps will function exactly as they do at home.

Q: Can I reinstall a deleted eSIM?

eSIMs CAN be reinstalled from the same QR code they were installed with, in the case they were deleted. They cannot, however, be transferred to another device.

Q: Do I need to turn on Data Roaming?

Yes. For the travel eSIM to find our partner networks (like Vodafone or Orange), “Data Roaming” must be toggled ON for the eSIM line in your settings.

Q: How to activate/ install e-Sim?

For iPhone (iOS)

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM.
  2. Select Use QR Code and scan the code from your ConnectMeGuru email.
  3. Label the new plan as “Travel” or “ConnectMeGuru.”
  4. Set Cellular Data to your new eSIM, but keep Default Voice Line as your Primary SIM.
  5. Important: Turn Data Roaming ON for the Travel line.

For Android (Samsung/Pixel)

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager.
  2. Tap Add eSIM > Scan QR Code.
  3. Follow the prompts to install the profile.
  4. Once installed, ensure the ConnectMeGuru eSIM is selected for Mobile Data.
  5. Enable Data Roaming in the Mobile Network settings.

Q: How to check if my phone is compatible or not?

Dial *#06# on your phone. If you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM!

Q: Can I see a plan’s data usage statistics?

Yes, in your account, there are statistics of data usage and time remaining as well as other details. Data usage is updated every 2-3 hours and is not real time.

eSIM Top-up & Recharge Guide

1. Can I buy a different plan for my current eSIM?

Yes. You are not locked into your original plan size. If you started with a 1GB – 7 Day plan, you can recharge it with a 10GB – 30 Day plan. The new data will simply be added to your existing ICCID (eSIM ID).

2. When does my new data plan start?

We use a “Smart Stacking” system. Your new top-up plan does not override your current data. Instead:

  • Data Usage: Your phone will continue to use the remaining data from your original plan first.

  • Activation Trigger: The validity clock (e.g., 30 days) for your top-up only starts once your original data is fully consumed or its time has expired.

  • Automatic Switch: The transition is seamless; you don’t need to change any settings on your phone.

3. Does a Top-up require a new QR Code?

No. This is the best part of a top-up. The data is sent “over-the-air” directly to the eSIM already installed on your device.

  • Do not delete your current eSIM.

  • Once your payment is confirmed, the new data is automatically allocated to your ICCID.

4. Can I top up a plan that has already expired?

Yes, provided the eSIM has not been deleted from your phone. However, we recommend topping up before you hit 0% data to ensure you maintain a continuous internet connection for the recharge process. After eSIM expiry, top up is no longer possible. You must buy new eSim.

5. Can I top up for a different country which was not part of original plan?

No, if you are moving to a country which are not part of original plan, you should buy a new eSim. To avoid difficulty, always buy a new eSim with global or regional plans. Top-up plans should have same countries as that of original plan.
